Eat. Breathe. Live. Football.
This is my motto right now. As of today and actually a couple weeks ago I am all things Western Michigan University Football. That's pretty much my job this fall for the Western Herald newspaper. The season started today against Nebraska of all opponents and I was listening to every snap over the radio (I wasn't sent to Lincoln with the team - I'll probably only be headed to close away games). Western had a full plate in front of them and it showed in the first half as they were down 34-10 at halftime. However, they caused a few turnovers in the second half and even outscored the Cornhuskers 14-13 in the second half. They pulled to within 20, but that was as close as they got and they ended up losing 47-24. Our offense and more specifically our passing game was very good and QB Tim Hiller finished with around 350 yards throwing in the air. TE Branden Ledbetter also showed up big catching 9 balls for 120+ yards. It'll be interesting to see if this game will give the O-Line and the passing attack some added confidence heading into this MAC schedule. The run game was non-existant, but that was expected and WMU was playing catch-up the whole game. Well, those are my thoughts on the game for now. If you want to check out my game recap, it should be up on the website on Tuesday (if the website is ready, which it should be). I'm excited for this season and my experience with the football team. Can't wait for the home opener next Saturday versus Northern Illinois. Should be a good time.
